5 Things I Learned In 2021

Joanna Hunt on a bali retreat
Hey lovely!

Right here we go! My 5 GREATEST lessons from 2021…

1. The less I needed, the better I felt.

Pete, Tula, and I traveled to Bali for 7 months with only 2 suitcases.

One filled with clothes and the other camera equipment.

We embraced simplicity in a major way this year and it felt so good.

Less material possessions allowed me to clear space within my mind.

And, for the first time, in a long time – I felt free to create.

2. Sometimes I will not be okay, and that is okay.

I used to only want to feel good vibes.

I didn’t let myself feel anything that I didn’t deem “okay”.

And, that way of being was creating a major disconnection within myself.

So, I went on a big healing journey this year to learn how to feel more. I invested a lot in my mental and physical health.

I worked with Balinese energy healers, a Shamanic Priestess, a Self Love coach, Bodyworkers and Sound Healers.

I asked for help.

I surrendered.

I cried.

I screamed.

I softened.

I released a lot of shame and anxiety I’ve been carrying around. It wasn’t easy.

And sometimes, I was not okay. But, I learned so much about myself and feel much stronger and more real because of it.

3. Most of the world is mediocre.

Many things in this world – experiences, products, interactions, work ethics – are mediocre.

Most people play to this norm and accept it as their reality.

But, not me.

I refuse to be sucked into mediocrity.

I am too powerful for that.

I decide.

I decide to go the extra mile.

I decide to live a life of passion and truth.

I decide to rise above it.

I decide to live an extraordinary life on my terms.

4. Choose to love with your whole heart.

I started 2021 off on a silent retreat where I learned to make a flower offering called Canang.

My Balinese friend, Krishna, taught me how to do it.

Before we started, she looked straight into my eyes and said “You must make Canang from the center of your heart with love, patience and presence. If you cannot, then put down the flowers and do not bother to make Canang at all.

Her words shifted me – forever.

It was one of those rare moments in life when words hit me is such a ways that I felt instantly transformed forever. My whole body softened. My heart opened.

And, so I did my very best to interact with myself, my family, and the world from the center of my heart with love, patience and presence all year long. It has been one of the most special years of my life because of it.

5. Just go for it.

There will be a few times in life when all your instincts will tell you to do something.

Something that defies logic. Something that upsets your plans and may seem crazy to others.

When that happens, you do it.

This year has been all about listening to my instincts and ignoring everything else.

Ignoring logic.

Ignoring the odds.

Ignoring complications.

Commit to myself and just going for it.

So tell me, which of these most resonate for you?

AND, I want to know what will you be “Just Going For” in 2022. Hit the comments and share please!

With love, patience, and presence,
Joanna
